Leonardo 4 Children 2023: Climate, Equaliy & Peace
Award “Fables” by 6-12 years old children
The authors of the works with the 10 best scoring will receive an award, consisting in:
- talent development programme, with a budget for each winner of € 300 (top 3 winners) / € 200 (4th-10th winner) to develop their skills in art & science, for instance with workshops, courses, meeting with experts, visits and material;

publication on “Leonardo 4 Children” book used or raising funds and as donation to children in need;

presentation at workshop and award ceremony; promotion on website, social media and promotional material, at public events, institutions or public places including famous museums, and during concerts and events;

“Leonardo 4 Children” award certificate.

Jury
The Members of “Leonardo 4 Children” Juries are professionals and experts in children’s education, art, music, science, innovation, philanthropy, with international and multicultural experience.
The Jury for the Award includes the following members: Konstantina Arvaniti, Caterina Cacciatori, Margherita Mesirca, Rossella Rusca, Maria Teresa Trisciuzzi, who with great enthusiasm and competence will carefully assess the participating works and scored them on the basis of the following criteria: (i) ability to address the issue of climate change; (ii) creativity and originality; (iii) quality of illustration and visual impact; (iv) work as part of class/team activity; (v) number of frames.
Talent Development
For winners, please fill in the L4C 2023 Awards – Talent Development Form to apply for the Talent Development programme.
The award allows children aged 6-12 to use their creativity and their artistic and scientific skills to create their own original fable to interpret one or more of the following topics:
- climate action and environmental sustainability
- social equality including gender equality
- peace between people
addressing the problem and possibly proposing a solution.
Winners Fables 2023
The top 10 winners of the Awards have been selected by the Jury and are invited to present their works at the Leonardo 4 Children workshop on 20 October 2023.
The winners nr 1-2-3 will be announced at the Concert and Award Ceremony in Brussels on 20 October 2023.

Many times, I think how my life would have been if not for you, the War. I think about my parents, my sister, our relatives, my street, my home, my country, and my bike that I got right before the day you entered our lives uninvited. I can still feel the pain, the fear and confusion. Disbelief…
These emotions will stay with me forever, as even now instead of writing a fable about how much I want peace and harmony to be in this beautiful world I went against the competition rules and decided to write to you this short letter.
I am only 8 years old. My name is Alex. I am one of many, many casualties of yours, but you wouldn’t care. All you care is causing pain and ripping off our souls. Well, I am telling you now loud and clear – you lost from the minute you entered our lives uninvited. You can have my bike, but you cannot have my soul. Every day I think about studying hard, learning new things, making meaningful changes in my life and the lives of others so yes, you-the War, will never have a chance to exist.
And yes, I have another bike now and you or anyone close to you will never have it.

In the dark tropical forest, a jaguar prowled starving. He heard a howler monkey from far away and hope immediately was in his face. He went there and saw nature disappeared.
Deforestation had killed every form of life. So the little monkey and the jaguar set off to look for the ecosystem in a new landscape.
We only have one planet at our disposal don’t kick it like a ball!
The monkey and the jaguar tell us to respect nature, the environment and the food chain.

Three colourful Mandarin fish ,one of the worlds’ most beautiful creatures where living happily in their habitat ,the Pacific Ocean. Their home, the coral reef consisted of different sea plants that provide most of the earths’ oxygen. The same reef was the home of zillions of microorganisms and together they form the perfect ecosystem. These fishes are also called Dragon Fish and can be very shy ,so they use the reef for hiding from predators or for playing hide and seek .They are so beautiful so all the aquariums in the world wish to capture them.
Sadly Dragon fish are very fragile and most of them do not survive under captivity. The fish where hunted by divers who managed to capture them. But after seeing them up close in their home the coral reef ,together with the sea plants and the zillions of microorganisms they realised that the true beauty was truly there and not in the fish tanks so they freed them and never hunted them again.They spread the word so people raised awareness and realised the need to preserve biodiversity and started protecting the ecosystem, stopped the pollution and cared for climate change.

Once upon a time there was a night full of stars where the forest and the river meet, a pink dolphin and an woolly ocelot find each other and became best friends.
Each one told the other about the magic of their house, the dolphin woke up surrounded by fish of different colors and sizes, calm sounds, bubbles and floating plants.
The ocelot told the dolphin about the singing of the birds, the smell of rain, the vibrant colors of the flowers and the beauty of the rainbow.
The dolphin wanted to see the forest and the ocelot also wanted to go under the river, but neither of them could. They remembered that there was a very lucky living being on earth, who could visit both places!!!
That being is wonderful, his name is Leonardo, said the ocelot. With his imagination he has built suits to be able to swim underwater, and he has even put on wings to fly, even reaching stellar space. We must find him so that he helps us to know each other’s home!!!
And that’s how these 2 friends explored the beauty in each of their habitats, amazed and lucky they made a promise:
They decided to be guardians of the river and the forest, so that it would always be a beautiful place to visit, they took care of their homes like a magical treasure, so that all humans could visit them and be happy.
Moral:
Every living being has a very important value on the planet, if you take care of it, you take care of others and yourself. We are part of a single home called Earth.

Stars and planets
The stars follow the evolution of humanity, until at some point they saw a new war had broken on Earth. They were sad.
After a few months, however, the war ended, the stars were very happy, but more excited that people reconciled. Hoping for this!
A boat in Aegean Sea
The kids in Greece watched in their TV’s news, stories with people to try to pass the Aegean Sea by boats from countries that there is war, by boats and they lose their life.
1. Once upon a time was a city where everyone lived harmoniously in peace. Suddenly war appeared.
2. The war destroyed everything with his selfishness.
3. So people had to leave their city and go to live elsewhere in peace.
4. But the hope the people had for peace was unstoppable.
5. In the end the war left and peace prevailed on earth.
