Meeting in Brussels, October 2023
The kick-off meeting of the L4C Academy project took place between the 23rd and 24th of October 2023 in Brussels. All partners gave a quick presentation and introduced their organizations. All the participants took part in a fruitful discussion related to the project’s main objectives and the next steps for implementation. Additionally, important matters were discussed and resolved for the following steps of the implementation, and deadlines were set for the upcoming tasks.
Meeting & Workshop in Florence, May 2024
The meeting for the Leonardo 4 Children Academy project in Florence featured various activities and discussions held, focusing on the integration of Art and Science disciplines, feedback on activities, child protection policies, and plans for future educational sessions and events. Ideas for the future included special awards, participation of children with special conditions, and the development of webinars. The next steps include finalizing the child protection policy, budget updates, preparing newsletters, and improving training materials.
The meeting in Florence was full of creative workshops, starting from “Leonardo” by the Ambrosiana Library and “Leonardo’ inventions” by the Museum of Vinci. Ann Start and Giuliana Santambrogio held a workshop on “Child Safeguarding” policy. The other workshops were “Singing” by La Scala Academy (presented by Filippo Toppi and Valentina Volpe Andreazza), “Terracotta for climate & equality” hosted by Antica Fornace Carbone in Impruneta, “Music composition inspired by Leonardo’s fable” hosted by Erika Zoi and Gisella Cosi and two workshop by Marina Calamai: “Love labyrinth on environment” and “Jewel on equality”. The last workshop “Painting restoration and Artemisia” was hosted by Nancy Von Breska and Jane Adams.
Meeting & Workshop in Brussels, October 2024
The meeting for the Leonardo 4 Children Academy project in Brussels involved training teachers on the L4CA Model . The training, led by Margherita Mesirca, introduced participants to six key pedagogical approaches, including project-based learning, STEAM, and transdisciplinarity, aiming to equip teachers with innovative methods to engage students in global issues.
The “Leonardo 4 Children 2024” workshop focused on engaging children and teenagers in addressing global challenges such as climate change and equality. It featured interactive activities where participants, supported by teachers, presented fables and projects offering creative solutions to these issues. Over 250 children participated, both in-person and online, contributing to the discussions and showcasing their work. The event also included presentations by the top 10 winners of the Leonardo 4 Children Awards (ages 6-18), with each group sharing their projects, learning outcomes, and proposals for talent development. The jury selected the top 3 winners in categories such as Climate, Equality, and Peace.
Meeting & Workshop in Prague, November 2024
The “Leonardo 4 Children Academy 2024-25” (L4CA) training and meeting, held in Prague from November 20-23, 2024, aimed to enhance teacher training and foster collaborative activities among partner schools. The event focused on completing a five-day teacher training program, advancing project work related to key objectives, and showcasing interdisciplinary examples of Art & Science. Discussions highlighted the integration of the L4CA model into educational practices, addressing challenges like low student attention, and exploring innovative methods, such as using art to promote sustainability and equality. The event also featured workshops, interactive sessions, and planning for future activities to strengthen the project’s impact on education.
The American Academy of Prague organized an engaging and highly creative workshop that delved into the themes of climate and equality through the artistic medium of Bohemian beads. The Florence school presented the project “The water and the vapour” to create an original musical composition (by Erika Zoi).
Meeting in Vilnius, April 2025
During the two days meetings of the Leonardo 4 Children Academy, all partner discussed about the development of the project in each school involved and the impact the programme has had on the children. The meetings were followed by workshops and a concert at Alexander Pushkin Gymnasium.
